Role Description:
The Zoetis Protein Therapeutics (PT) group is recruiting a talented data-driven scientist to join our team to discover and develop novel therapeutics for veterinary medicine. This position will require a highly motivated and independent scientist who can effectively collaborate with other team members to advance projects. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for studying biomolecular interactions using a variety of technologies including surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently design, run and analyze binding assays on various SPR platforms such as biacore, carterra and digital SPR to test protein, antibody and small molecule binding.
- Ability to critically think and troubleshoot complex SPR assays.
- Multitask and work in an efficient way to support multiple projects.
- Learn/utilize new SPR techniques and instruments when required based on the project needs.
- Maintain up to date inventory of the critical reagents and the study samples.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to prosecute studies and projects in line with the strategic direction of the team.
- Present research results and data to scientific teams and partner lines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Biochemistry and/or Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Immunology or related field is required with Bachelor's (3-5 years of relevant experience) or Master's (1-3 years of relevant experience). Master's preferred.
- Ability to design, run and interpret SPR assays.
- Hands on experience using SPR instruments.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Good team player.
- Prior experience in species associated with veterinary medicine preferred.
