Our Chemical Process Development group is a team of organic chemists, analytical chemists, and chemical engineers working together to design novel syntheses from raw materials to supply new medicines to patients. Our scientists focus on developing safe, economical, sustainable, and robust processes to support clinical trials and the launch of new medicines across various drug modalities including small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, and antibody drug conjugates. The work is driven by innovative science, data-driven decision-making, and collaborative teamwork. The scientific knowledge package from the manufacturing process, design parameters, and control strategies enables regulatory filings to bring these novel medicines to patients worldwide.
Job Title: Associate Scientist (EG-90), CPD HTE & Automation
Job Description:
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Scientist to join our Chemical Process Development (CPD) team. The successful candidate will utilize High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) techniques applied to process chemistry to support project team decision-making. This role requires a strong background in HTE, High-Throughput Analytical techniques, and experience with various specialized software and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE) techniques to support process chemistry projects and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Design, execute, and analyze HTE experiments to optimize chemical processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand their needs and provide timely and relevant data to support project milestones.
- Train and support new users in the use of HTE tools and software, ensuring best practices and efficient workflows.
- Maintain and troubleshoot HTE equipment and software to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Firm background in the execution, and fit-for purpose development of high-throughput analytical techniques (e.g., UPLC, UPLC-MS, SFC, GC, GC-MS, and NMR)
- Maintain and troubleshoot analytical equipment (e.g., UPLC, UPLC-MS, and SFC chromatography systems)
- Document experimental procedures, results, and conclusions in a clear and organized manner.
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience supporting HTE in a process chemistry environment.
- Proficiency in using and training new users with the following software and tools:
- ACD/LABS Katalyst D2D
- Chronect-Quantos powder dispensing
- Chemspeed crystal dose
- Zeiss Axio Observer Transmission and Reflective Optical Microscope
- Formulatrix Mantis liquid handler
- Unchained labs robotics
- ChemDraw
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with additional HTE tools and software.
