The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Formulations Scientist I. The Formulations Scientist I produces the solutions in Canal Ponds that are filled for use as calibrators and controls for customers using ORTHO instruments. Formulation Scientist I also produces the coating solutions for use on the MicroWell coating equipment. Responsibilities include building, operating and cleaning vessels , filters and mixers in accordance with defined instructions. The Formulation Scientist I acquires samples for Fluid Release Lab Testing and calculates and adds adjustments to solutions after testing to meet targeted ranges.
This position is in Rochester, NY.
Schedule: 7:30am – 4:00pm (Monday – Friday)
The Responsibilities
Making biological solutions per defined instructions.
Filling out paperwork to document activities.
Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, rooms and tools utilized for the production of solutions.
Monitor process steps to ensure volumes/pressures are within range.
Production reporting in SAP.
The Individual
Required:
Preferred:
Working knowledge of chemical and/or biological processes.
Understanding of the interrelationship of these disciplines as applied to medical devices in clinical chemistry.
Knowledge in computer programs such as Excel, Word and MRP system.
This position will require the ability to lift-up to 45lbs, and use power lift equipment for lifting up 100 lbs.

Internal Partners: Equipment Manufacturing Operators, Quality Engineers, Field Engineers, Customer Service, R&D Lab Technicians
External Partners: Material Suppliers, Customers
The Work Environment
The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and be able to lift-up to 45lbs, and use power lift equipment for lifting up to 100lbs.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $58,000 to $68,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
