Evotec Cell Sciences team has an opening for an Insourced Scientist based in Rahway, NJ. The responsibility of individual scientist includes preparation of reagents for production and quality control testing of proprietary molecular biology reagents to support daily operation of the mRNA display technology platform.
Detailed job description:
- Prepare tRNA reagents in weekly basis as directed by mRNA display team lead
- Perform established synthetic tRNA quality control test via performing RNA gel electrophoresis, gel staining and visual recording, and report the test result.
- Maintain inventory and logging of synthetic dsDNA templates
- Maintain inventory and logging of proprietary ssDNA primers
- Perform mRNA library production by following established in-house method and replenish mRNA library inventory
- Maintain scientific laboratory excellence, regarding quality of work, following safety procedures and requirements, and documenting work appropriately in an Electronic Laboratory Notebook.
- Molecular biology grade buffer preparation and commercial buffer inventory and purchase to support aminoacylation and manual aminoacylation.
- The insourced scientist employee will be responsible for obtaining appropriate reagent and consumables as he/she required to fulfill requests. Items may require scanning into the lab for compliance
The following relevant skill sets, and expertise are required for the open position:
- qPCR and basic molecular biology techniques (gel electrophoresis, etc.)
- Standard Protein/DNA/RNA Handling methodologies (SDS-PAGE, Western blot etc.)
- Strong written and oral communication skills for team collaboration
Qualifications
- BS, MS in Biological Sciences/Molecular Biology with at least 3 years of relevant experience (for BS), at least 2 years of relevant experience (for MS)
- Strong background in Molecular Biology
- Must be a dynamic, accurate and innovative self-starter with a flexible approach who enjoys a challenge
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and deliver accurate documentation are essential.
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and readiness/ability to learn new methods are critical
