Revvity’s R&D Bioproduction department focus on the development of advanced expression platforms to support the manufacturing of biotherapeutics. We offer a range of mammalian host cell lines, and a transposon-based expression system designed to rapidly identify high-expressing recombinant protein clones. Leveraging our extensive expertise in gene editing, we also provide custom cell line engineering services to tailor bioproduction cell lines for our clients' specific manufacturing needs, whether for protein-based or viral vector therapeutics.
Job summary
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist to join our Bioproduction R&D team. In this role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in Cell Line Development (CLD) for the expression of monoclonal antibodies and complex molecules to improve or create new processes and generate customer-facing data. Hands-on experience with Ambr15 and other bioreactors is essential for this position.
As a CLD expert, you will be part of the R&D Product Support team and serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting activities related to CLD and bioreactor operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and mentoring junior scientists within the team. This lab-based role requires close collaboration with other members of the Bioproduction R&D team during the validation of new products, as well as with internal and external partners.
Key responsibilities:
Independently design, plan, analyse and troubleshoot research projects. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse data in context of wider project.
Train and mentor junior members of the team, review and provide expert guidance on their experiments
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within the team and across teams within the organisation. Develop and maintain active collaborations with other departments within Revvity.
Record and maintain up- to- date laboratory lab books, and prepare appropriate documentation, such as Standard operating procedures.
Communicate data in clear and concise manner at internal and external meetings.
Essential Competencies & Requirements:
Master of Science degree in life sciences with PhD or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Life Sciences, Biochemical Engineering and Chemical Engineering).
Extensive experience of recombinant protein expression methods, experience with expression of complex proteins acquired in an industrial setting.
In-depth knowledge of Cell Line Development for mammalian cell lines (CHO cells in particular), expertise in process optimisation and bioreactors.
Strong molecular biology skills, PCR, qPCR and ddPCR.
Strong team player with excellent communication and organisational skills, and attention to detail, leading to reliable results. Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE) would be a plus.
Has scientific curiosity and proactively develops knowledge.
Desirable Competencies & Requirements:
Good understanding of downstream workflows to support purification operations and analytical assessment of biotherapeutics.
Experience with machine learning and AI.
Worked within an environment to GLP or cGMP.
