Scientist II, Mass Spectrometry | Just-Evotec – Seattle, WA |
Just-Evotec is seeking a motivated and creative scientist who desires a significant opportunity to improve worldwide access to biotherapeutics. As a key member of the Mass Spectrometry group, you will possess strong technical knowledge of mass spectrometry and detailed knowledge of characterizing protein therapeutics development. Experience with orbitrap and time-of-flight mass analyzers is essential. A familiarity with MS software platforms such as Xcalibur, BioPharma Finder, Protein Metrics, Waters Connect, and Skyline is highly desirable for this position. The ideal candidate also has strong communications skills and is a dedicated team player.
Responsibilities:
- Characterization of biotherapeutics using mass spectrometry, especially intact mass and peptide mapping workflows
- Method development for mass spectrometry-based experiments
- Work with team members on technology development to reduce the cost and improve the efficiency, speed, and quality of analytical methods
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with TOF and Orbitrap mass spectrometry instrumentation
- Experience with HPLC techniques, including instrumentation and method development
- Protein characterization experience and an understanding of protein chemistry fundamentals
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry method development
- Desire to work in a fast, collaborative, and team-oriented environment
Preferred qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and 2-3 years industry experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 5-10+ years industry experience
- Experience with troubleshooting complex instrumentation
- Strength in data science and informatics
- Hands on experience with Protein Metrics, BioPharma Finder, Skyline and other mass spectrometry analysis platforms.
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $105,000 to $123,500; base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
