About the role and department
We offer you a central role in an exciting company that is constantly growing. You will join the Process Development DK team whose primary focus is to support the Infusion Care business branch in Convatec. Your team plays a central role in new product development projects, being the bridge between the R&D department designing new products and the Advanced Operations department responsible for specification, commissioning, and maintenance of production lines. From early engagement in numerous projects, we assure that manufacturing processes are in place or being developed to facilitate effective handover to scale up for high-volume manufacturing.
We are working in a hybrid workplace setup with office space in Osted near Roskilde, Denmark. Your workplace will be Osted, being the location of our Danish production facilities. Further we offer the possibility of working from home per agreement with line manager.
Key responsibilities include
In the position of Process Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of high-volume manufacturing processes for new products. As a central member of new product development projects, you will secure duly attention to Design for Manufacturing and will develop and verify suitable and robust manufacturing processes. In parallel, you will investigate the opportunities to test, mature,e and introduce new technologies and processes that may increase efficiency in future manufacturing.
Apply structured DfM analysis on selected product concepts in projects and clearly flag designs and processes problematic to effective high-volume manufacturing.
Apply Design for Six Sigma to secure a data-driven base for decision-making, to systematically determine process windows and process validations.
Coordinate and drive production of prototypes in close liaison with the projects, process development colleagues, and operators at production sites.
Perform manufacturing tests, design new jigs and test rigs, and identify and communicate with external suppliers of services, technologies, materials, and manufacturing equipment.
Produce a thorough and structured documentation package that conforms with regulatory requirements and good documentation practice, securing a smooth development process and efficient hand over to the engineering department.
Liaise with the Engineering Department and the Advanced Operations organisation to embed knowledge from manufacturing to select processes and map process-related problems which may be solved in future manufacturing.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to the efficient flow of information, clear communication, and proactive involvement of relevant stakeholders.
What you bring

You thrive in a cross-functional project environment and use your good communication skills to highlight the critical path of activities and prerequisites for performing the process development tasks. You are curious about new ways of doing things, continue to challenge the status quo and come forward with proposals and ideas. You are a distinct team player and utilize your good collaboration skills to work in close collaboration with R&D, mechanical design, project management, engineering, production, procurement, mould, automation, QA/QC, and Regulatory Affairs. You are pragmatic and operate with a sense of urgency to meet your deadlines.
You enjoy a busy working day and can progress several tasks in parallel, thriving with evolving, changes and various tasks. You have proven analytical and problem-solving skills that will help you to develop robust processes. You understand the importance of good documentation practices and see the value in creating solid documentation.
Qualifications
The right candidate will bring the following qualifications:
Have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Have +3 years’ experience with process development for high-volume manufacturing – preferably of medical devices is an advantage.
Knowledge of Design Control and GMP regulatory framework and documentation requirements is a benefit.
Experience with DoE’s, Six Sigma, and process validation is an advantage.
An independent, proactive, driven, and structured work aptitude is desired.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
English language proficiencies to function successfully in a multinational corporation.
